The world is full of many advanced planes and jets and the are used in many things one of the most important reasons of using them is the speed of these jets. they can be used for transport, war and for recon sense. But which of them is fastest so today we are going to tell you about the world most advance and fastest plane?
The sr-71 blackbird
The SR-71 was designed by KELLY JOHNSON .it was introduced in January 1966 and the prototype take its first flight on 22 December 1964.it was used for the purpose of strategic reconnaissance by the USAF and NASA .it was built by an American aerospace company lock head corporation and the company created only 32 of its models. the last aircraft was retired in 1998 by US air force and in 1999 by NASA.
History
On 22 December the blackbird takes its first flight at the Palmdale in California and the pilot who get the chance to use it first was Bob Gilliland. The Us army was able to fly the black bird once in every week as it was made of titanium about 93 percent of its structure was made up of titanium and it need a recovery time of a week for its next flight. there were over 32 black bird build by the company but out of them 12 were lost in the accident but none of them were hit by enemy or by the missiles. The total history of the blackbird flights is
· 3551 mission sorties flown
· 11008 mission flight hours
· 53490 total flight hours
· 11675 hours at above Mach 3
Design
The design was made so that the aircraft can bear the speed of 3 Mach and above .it was 93% made up of titanium and the main reason for that was its speed and the altitude at which it is going to fly. Its body design was made to minimize its cross-section area as an attempt to make it air stealth. With the help of its slim design it was able to gather information from the enemy base and give a very short time to the enemy missiles to reach to it .as the flight speed was very high it reach at the temperature of about 600ferenhite .the plane was painted dark blue and it was almost black the main reason for that was to increase the internal heat release from the plane and also help it to camouflage at night and due to the paint it get its name blackbird.
Fuel
Many different fuels were used in the start but the designer find that the coal intakes burn the important components of the engine .so as fuel TEB was used which ignite on constant with air when injected to produce high temperature which will burn the JP-7 present in tanks. While the takeoff only half tank was filled and as the fuel used and other things the plane need to be refilled in every 90 minutes of supersonic flight. special KC-135Q with high speed were used to refuel the blackbirds. For help in the refueling the cockpit was fitted with a back vision display for helping pilot.
Features
The black bird contain a lot of feature one of the main is its aerodynamics capability which make it stealth aircraft .the next thing it have is the advance air inlets which will make the sr-71 cruise and be stable at the speed of 3 Mach and above .its engine was also made up of titanium and there were two J58 engines to give it power .As the blackbird have to fly in high speed and a very high altitude it was attached with the ANS system which was able to correct its navigation and errors from celestial bodies .its was also have high quality se sensors and the payloads. In such a specialized safety system it was flying at 80,000 feet and have specialized pressurized suits. the food and water were supplied to the pilots in long flights and the food and water were delivered to the pilot mouth through helmet opening.
Performance
The top speed of the sr-71 was reached up to 3951 km/h and on 28 July it reached an altitude of about 85069 feet. the longest flight was of 24000 km which take about 10 hour and 30 minutes. The SR-71 also holds the "speed over a recognized course" record for flying from New York to London—distance 3,461.53 miles (5,570.79 km), 1,806.964 miles per hour (2,908.027 km/h), and an elapsed time of 1 hour 54 minutes and 56.4 seconds—set on 1 September 1974, while flown by USAF pilot James V. Sullivan and Noel F. Widefield, reconnaissance systems officer (RSO).
Variants
There were three variants made of the black bird
· SR-71A it was the main production variant.
· SR-71B it was a trainer variant
SR-71C it was a hybrid trainer
Conclusion
The blackbird is the most advanced aircraft till now date it is said that it is the fastest and most advance jet till now date .it was fly from the position of its first flight to its last point at the day of its retirement .it was used by the NASA for 1 year for research purposes.
